Page speed for local business sites

Most people looking for a local business are on a phone, sometimes on a weak signal. A page that loads in a blink keeps them on it.

What we measure

Google publishes three measures it calls Core Web Vitals, and they're a sensible yardstick for any site:

MeasureWhat it meansWhat usually hurts it
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)How long until the main image or heading showsHuge photos, slow hosting, fonts that block the page
Interaction to Next Paint (INP)How quickly the page reacts when someone tapsHeavy scripts, chat widgets, page builders
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)How much the page jumps around while it loadsImages without set sizes, late banners and ads

Speed is one signal among many. A fast page won't rank on speed alone, but a slow one loses visitors before they see anything, and that cost is easy to avoid.

How we keep pages light

  • Photos resized for the screen they show on and saved in modern formats such as WebP
  • Width and height set on every image, so nothing jumps
  • Few fonts, loaded so text shows right away
  • No sliders, no autoplay video, and only the scripts the page needs
  • Forms that work without loading a whole form plugin
  • Hosting with a content delivery network, so files come from a server near the visitor

Fixing a slow site you already have

We start with a report: field data from the Chrome UX Report where Google has enough visits to show it, and lab tests of your main pages. The report lists what slows each page and what fixing it would involve. Sometimes a few changes do most of the work, such as compressing photos and removing an unused plugin. Sometimes the theme or page builder is the problem, and a rebuild costs less than patching. The report says which.

Third-party tools

Booking widgets, review feeds, chat bubbles and tracking tags all add weight. We don't remove things your business relies on. We load them later in the page, or only on the pages that need them, and show you what each one costs in load time so you can decide.

Questions

What score will my site get?

We don't promise a number. Lab scores change from one test to the next, and field data depends on your visitors' phones and connections. We send the measurements from before and after the work so you can compare.

Does speed matter if my customers call instead of booking online?

Yes. They still land on the page first, and a slow page is often closed before the phone number shows.
